چکیده

Neutron measurements of the equilibration of the staggered magnetization in DyAs0.35V0.65O4 are compared with Monte Carlo simulations of spin dynamics in a planar random-anisotropy magnet. The simulation results are in agreement with striking observed relaxation phenomena: when cooled rapidly to a low temperature, no magnetic ordering is observed; however when cooled in small steps an ordered magnetic moment appears, which is found to equilibrate exponentially with time at temperatures through and below the transition temperature. In contrast to the freezing of spins in other random systems, the time scale of the relaxation in this system does not increase significantly even at the lowest temperatures.

EFFECT OF FINISH ROLLING TEMPERATURE ON MICROSTRUCTURE,TEXTURE AND PLANAR ANISOTROPY IN ALUMINUM ALLOY AA3004 SHEETS

AA3004 alloy is widely used in can making. The major concern in the production of canbodies is earing, which develop by high planar anisotropy of rolled sheet. Balance ofrecrystallisation and rolling textures together with a uniform and fine grain microstructure canminimize the earing. The effects of finish rolling temperature (FRT) on planar anisotropy, microstructure, texture development and m...

Critical properties of random anisotropy magnets

The problem of critical behaviour of three dimensional random anisotropy magnets, which constitute a wide class of disordered magnets is considered. Previous results obtained in experiments, by Monte Carlo simulations and within different theoretical approaches give evidence for a second order phase transition for anisotropic distributions of the local anisotropy axes, while for the case of iso...

Equilibration of energy in slow–fast systems

Ergodicity is a fundamental requirement for a dynamical system to reach a state of statistical equilibrium. However, in systems with several characteristic timescales, the ergodicity of the fast subsystem impedes the equilibration of the whole system because of the presence of an adiabatic invariant. In this paper, we show that violation of ergodicity in the fast dynamics can drive the whole sy...

Uniaxial magnetic anisotropy of square-planar chromium(II) complexes revealed by magnetic and HF-EPR studies.

Two mononuclear square-planar Cr(II) complexes are reported, exhibiting field-induced slow magnetic relaxation. The axial zero-field splitting parameter was unambiguously determined by both a high-frequency/field electron paramagnetic resonance (HF-EPR) technique and magnetic measurements. This result represents the first observed single-molecule-magnet behavior in the square planar coordinatio...

Transient eddy current simulation of a uni-planar gradient set

Introduction: Local gradients enable increased gradient strength and faster slew rates, which are both highly desirable to enable high-resolution and fast, real-time imaging(1). The planar gradient set presented in (2) illustrates one such gradient system, where all three gradient axes are incorporated into a uni-planar gradient set that is positioned within the magnet bore. Planar gradients pr...
